In addition to an annual OFRW “Day at the Legislature” (the above picture was taken in 2007 at this event) at the Oregon State Capitol, OFRW supports the annual Dorchester Convention where issues are discussed and our legislators are there for us to visit.  Local clubs have their local office holders as speakers at meetings & local events, while the OFRW biennial Convention provides opportunities to meet state wide office holders or those who may be seeking such positions.

Americanism (NFRW Link)  OFRW Chair:  Vi MacDonald
We, as Republican activists, have an opportunity to inspire those who are complacent to become passionate, patriotic Americans, and to instill a renewed spirit of patriotism in the soul of others. Our first objective is to foster respect for the Flag of the United States of America, which is paramount. We can accomplish this by "getting back to the basics of Americanism."

Education and Literacy (NFRW Link)

Each September, Republican women's clubs across the nation are asked to let us know what they do to promote literacy. All clubs returning the short literacy month form receive a signed certificate of participation and are entered in a random drawing for a $200-first or a $50-second prize.

Current programs include:  No Child Left Behind, Commitment to Literacy, My Favorite Teacher Award, Mamie Eisenhower Library Project (MELP), Literacy Month

Every club that has requested and donated their MELP books, by our OFRW Fall Board Meeting, will have a ticket in a raffle that could win your club a digital camera!!! Every club could use a "club camera" to take those all important club photos to promote your club and remember those great historical events. Don't miss out!

Comprehensive Advocacy Program (NFRW Link)

A national CAP Alert Hotline is initiated by the NFRW president to generate support or opposition for an issue that concerns the members of the Federation. The Hotline can also be initiated by the NFRW president in response to a request for support from a Republican congressional or administration leader or a state Federation president. A club can issue an Alert for their members on a state or local issue. It is important that Federation members be actively involved in legislation at all levels.
